| YOUR LETTERS |
We would like to thank all of you who sent in letters following the publication of the August edition of 'Shell in the Middle East' magazine.
We would like to thank all of you who sent in letters following the publication of the February edition of 'Shell in the Middle East' magazine. Please feel free to tell us what you think of the magazine, what you would like to see more of and, indeed, less of, and we will
try and accommodate as many of your suggestions as we can over the course of time.
Here's a selection of your letters from around the Middle East…
I am proud to be one of the many readers of your magazine 'Shell in the Middle East', which I find to be both informative and enjoyable. I must commend Shell for such an excellent effort to cover the many aspects of the oil industry in the Middle East, and think that the magazine does a good job in reflecting Shell's commitment to the wellbeing of the region. |
| Jamal Al Amer, Senior Coordinator, Supply & Logistics, International Marketing, Bahrain National Oil Company (Banoco) |
The magazine is interesting and I found the last edition's exclusive interview with Mehdi Hosseini, Iran's Deputy Minister of Petroleum, to be particularly good.
At Damascus University, we appreciate the useful information that Shell gives out through the publication. However, I would like to read much more on the specific technological applications used in various types of oil exploration, and would welcome more detailed scientific features on the production of oil and gas. |
Osama Ibrahim, Geology Department, Damascus University, Syria |
I find the overall concept of the magazine to be interesting and in the last edition I particularly enjoyed the features on Iran, and on the role Shell plays in the Oil Products business in Bahrain.
However, I find the Letters Page to be of least interest. I also think the same about the Shell People slot - mainly because I cannot hire the people who talk about their careers! |
| Dr. Kimstadt, Treff Power, Al Qurum, Oman

I saw a copy of your magazine by chance and would like to be added to your subscription list for regular copies.
I am a student majoring in Economics at Sultan Qaboos University in the College of Commerce and Economics in Oman. 'Shell in the Middle East' will be very useful for my economic research about the oil and gas business in the Middle East. It will also, of course, enhance my knowledge of Shell's business in the region. |
| Saif Khalfan Khalifa, Sultanate of Omana |
More hard technical and commercial inside information regarding Shell's new products please… |
Parviz Ansari, Company Director, Darab Cement, Tehran, Iran |
The magazine is well presented but I would like to read more simple but scientific features about the latest technological advances that have been made to facilitate the discovery of oil and more about in-the-field drilling operations. |
Eyad Issa, Ray Protection Supervisor, Al Furat Petroleum Co (AFPC), Damascus, Syria |
I enjoy reading 'Shell in the Middle East' but would appreciate more features on Shell's specific activities and Shell customers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I would also like to know more about Shell from an historical point of view. |
Salem Bin Saqr, Bin Saqr Company, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia |
The magazine is really worth reading but I would like you to give much more attention to the part Shell can play in the longer term in the social development of countries in the Middle East. I would also like to know more about where Shell stands in terms of promoting good environmental practice as the region becomes more and more developed. |
| Engineer Emad Saad, Abu Dhabi, UAE |
It is interesting to see that Shell seems to be the only multinational oil company prepared to publicise its business activities in the Middle East to such a wide audience through 'Shell in the Middle East' magazine.
Whilst it is obvious that the purpose of the magazine is to enhance Shell's image in the region, it is also refreshing tosee that those outside the company, such as Government ministers, customers, distributors and members of the general public, are given the space to voice their own opinions about Shell. I am sure that readers would appreciate more of this dialogue please - even if, at times, it is not totally complimentary about oil companies' activities in the Middle East. |
