Issue No. 8 - February 2000
YOUR LETTERS

We would like to thank all of you who sent in letters following the publication of the November edition of 'Shell in the Middle East' magazine.

Please feel free to tell us what you think of the magazine, what you would like to see more of and, indeed, less of! Here's a brief selection of your letters from around the Middle East…

Thank you for sending me a copy of the last issue of 'Shell in the Middle East' and for publishing the interview which you conducted with me. As usual, it was an informative issue and well designed.
Sheikh Mohamed Abdullah Al Jomaih, Chairman of Abdul Aziz &
Mohamed A. Al Jomaih Co., and Chairman of Al Jomaih and
Shell Lubricating Co., Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

I relish reading 'Shell in the Middle East' magazine. It is like a lode star in what at times seems to be an otherwise murky horizon of intellectual bankruptcy. You have my extreme appreciation.
Aftab Hasan, Techno-Gulf Trading, Dubai

Editor's note: How can we respond to such praise? Except to say you light up our day.

I would like to read more about actual oil operations in the Gulf, with more details on foreign companies' activities in this part of the world.
Mubarak Ershaid Al Sulaili, International Affairs,
Prime Minister's Office, Kuwait

Editor's note: We have noted your comments, but I am afraid we have to let the other International Oil Companies speak for themselves.

I am pleased to know that the magazine is keeping up its high standards. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish the newly established Kuwait Shell Limited company all the best for its operations in Kuwait.
Ahmad Al-Rayyis, Manager (Loss Prevention) Group
Kuwait Oil Company

I am a new reader of your magazine, and find it interesting and well presented.
M. Kehzri, National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Company,
Esfahan, Iran

I am a statistical researcher working in the Ministry of Industry and Electricity in Saudi Arabia. I have read by chance the latest issues of your journal and would like to be added to your mailing list so I can receive a copy of my own on a regular basis.
I am interested in all the subjects covered in 'Shell in the Middle East' magazine, but particularly those concerned with industry, so more of these please.
Mohammed Mokalbash Ashrahili, Ministry of Industry and Electricity
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

I saw your magazine during my visit to the Arab Oil and Gas Show in Dubai. I think it is a good magazine, and informative, but it would be nicer if you changed the concept of having just one photograph on the cover.
Hamdi Sa'ad Abdul Kader, Engineer,
Al Ain Municipality, UAE

Editor's note: What do the rest of our readers think about the cover? Comments please.

It is one of the leading magazines in our files…
Jassim Al Ajmi, Cargo Supervisor, Ras Al-Khaimah Airport

A very useful source of information…
Hamoud Ali Al Harthi, Technical Operations, Oman LNG

We had a chance to read the last issue of 'Shell in the Middle East' and really enjoyed it. Please send me a copy on a regular basis.
John Mathew, Managing Director,
Abdul Aziz Yousuf Al-Essa & Co, Kuwait

I enjoy reading 'Shell in the Middle East' magazine and appreciate the fact that Shell has been the first oil company in the region to make its activities transparent to such a wide readership.
However, I would like to see more 'outsiders' contribute to the magazine with objective and critical comments on Shell's activities. I think this would give the magazine another angle altogether and more credibility.
S. Conyers, Market Research, Dubai

Editor's note: A valid comment and one which we will consider at our next Editorial Board meeting.
