PDO Signs MoU to Build RO plant at Wadi Al Omeiri

April 10, 2006

In line with its social investment program for 2006, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has announced that it is to build a Reverse Osmosis(RO) plant at Wadi Al Omeiri's government centre in Walayat Ibri. The RO plant will serve Wadi Al Omeiri and nearby communities in Oman.

On Sunday 9th of April 2006 PDO signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Interior to fund a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant at Wadi Al Omeiri's government centre in Wadi Al Omari, Walayat Ibri.

His Excellency Sayyed Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior signed the MoU on behalf of the Ministry, with PDO Human Resources Director, Mundhir bin Salem Al Barwani, signing on behalf of PDO.

Mr Al Barwani commented: "PDO is proud to be providing an essential drinking water plant for the government centre and the community of Wadi Al Omeiri. This plant will provide abundant clean water for the residents of Wadi Al Omairi & government employees at the centre. From a safety perspective, it will reduce the driving exposure as the company will no longer truck water to Wadi Al Omeiry".

Nominees from the three countries where Intilaaqah is currently active have been shortlisted and have submitted their entries for the awards. There are four award categories and a nominee from each country is represented in each category. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners in each of the four categories: Business Success or Significant Progress, Most Promising Start-Up, Best Business Plan, and Best Business Idea.

Commenting on the Regional Intilaaqah Awards, Raoul Restucci , Executive Vice President, Middle East Caspian and South Asia, Shell Exploration & Production International, said:" Entrepreneurship is a vital element to the world's economic development. To date, 2825 people from the region have benefited and graduated from the Intilaaqah programme and 358 have established a diverse range of viable and successful businesses operating today.

The twelve nominees will be interviewed by a judging panel before the event, and the winners will be awarded cash prizes to help further develop their businesses.
