Maximising oil extraction whilst minimising impact on environment

Dr. Zara KhatibChemical engineer Dr. Zara Khatib has managed the Shell "Water to Value" theme for years. Zara and a Shell team have developed new technologies and techniques to cut produced water levels from oil wells. Produced water is an unavoidable by-product of oil extraction that is not only expensive and difficult to dispose of but can also force a well to close long before the oil has run out. Not only has Zara and the Shell team helped keep these wells open for longer, they have also helped turn the produced water into a potentially valuable resource. Find out how we're maximising the use of natural resources, whilst minimising our impact on the environment at www.shell.com/zara
