AFPC holds Lifting & Hoisting Workshops

Al Furat Petroleum Company (AFPC), a Shell joint venture in Syria, held two Lifting & Hoisting Workshops in the spring. Both workshops were held in Omar, a production field of AFPC. At the AFPC Lifting & Hoisting Workshop

Lifting and hoisting activities remain high-risk operations, where the condition of equipment, the correct HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) procedures and staff competency are all vital for the safe execution of such operations.

Leon Schopping, Shell Exploration & Production’s Lifting & Hoisting Professional Expertise Holder, was invited to help lead the workshops to give professional support to all attendees and to train some members of staff.

The workshops were based on a week of in-field lifting and hoisting and were very well attended by section heads, onsite supervisors and crane operators, from both AFPC and AFPC contractors.
