  Going global with Kuwait University

Kuwait Shell has implemented a three- year sponsorship deal to support Kuwait University’s Global Relations Office (GRO), part of the University’s College of Business Administration.

“We are honored to be playing such a major role in launching several global initiatives with the College of Business Administration,” says Shell Country Chairman for Kuwait, Ahmed Mouti.

Dr. Rashed Al-Ajmi, Dean of the College of Business Administration with Ahmed Mouti, Shell Country Chairman for Kuwait “Kuwait Shell’s sponsorship of the GRO shows our commitment to actively invest in young, talented Kuwaitis, to create more understanding of developments in the global oil industry and to ultimately help the growth of Kuwait through sustained investment in its young people,” he adds.

Last year Kuwait Shell funded visits by the University’s representatives to several UK business schools, participated at GetEnergy Dubai, a global learning and development exhibition, and at Gourami 2007, a Shell Business Challenge event, during which Kuwaiti students competed in business simulations.

“The College of Business Administration’s partnership with Shell has given us another opportunity to participate in and encourage educational development and information sharing through the Global Relations Office with various academic institutions and corporate advisors,” says Dr. Rashed Al-Ajmi, Dean of the College of Business Administration.

“With Shell’s support we are able to promote the University’s reputation regionally as well as globally through exchange programmes, faculty recruitment and research. This will open windows of opportunity for Kuwait across several sectors.”

In 2008, Kuwait Shell aims to introduce seminars and lectures on issues ranging from petroleum economics to Information Technology in energy. Shell will also invite Kuwaiti students to participate in Gourami 2008, and to apply for Shell’s regional internship programme. Shell will support GRO’s academic campaigns and global initiatives through membership of an Advisory Board.
